Incoterms Rules

Listings (Seller creates an offer)

  • Listings are always based on EXW [Location] — meaning the buyer picks up goods at the seller's facility.
  • The seller must provide the pickup location, as EXW without a place is incomplete.

Supply Requests (Buyer creates a request)

  • Buyers can specify a preferred Incoterm and delivery location, even without a target price — this helps sellers quote accurately.
  • If the buyer does include a target price, they must specify an Incoterm and a location it applies to.
  • EXW cannot be used in supply requests, since the buyer doesn't yet know the seller's pickup location.

Affected screens

  • Single listing page - Shows incoterms with location, both under the price in the sidebar and in the details below the photos. Flags are also added. Incoterms location is not the same as country of origin.
  • Supply request page - Shows incoterms with location, both under the targeted price in the sidebar and in the details below the photos. Flags are also added. Incoterms location is not the same as preferred origin.
  • Create listing form - Price and incoterms are optional. But if price is set, incoterm EXW location - country and post code are required.
  • Create supply request form - Targeted price and incoterm are optional. But if targeted price is set, incoterm and location (country + location) are required.
  • Make an offer - Incoterm selector is available with EXW+location as default from the original listing. If other incoterm is selected, country + location is required. The country selected by default is the one from EXW until the buyer changes it. New field for notes.
